Jason the gimpy III...
So Jason needs surgery; we'll keep you posted on the logistical info. We visited the neurosurgeon today and poured over the MRI scans of his back. In a nutshell, there is a piece of disc that has broken away and is pressing on the nerve that runs from his hip to his toes in his right leg. Hence all the pain. The doc needs to make a small incision on Jason's back to go in with a tweezer-like tool to extract the piece. It's an hour-long surgery with a night's stay in the hospital. Then it's about 5 days at home to recover so if we can get a weekend in there, he will only have to take 2-3 days off work. Then it's one month of doing absolutely nothing so that scar tissue can form and lock the remaining disc material from coming out. So no bending or lifting for 30 days. After that though, he's pretty well good as new. Resiliency is amazing.

Rowan Patrick Moore...
Admittedly, this post is late. I apologize for my tardiness. Nevertheless, congratulations are in order to Alicia, Adam and Liam for their new addition. Rowan was born on March 21st and we are the luckier for it! He's a smart little guy, very quiet, laid-back and observant. He doesn't like to be held up with his head lying on your shoulder. Rather, he seems to prefer being held cradle-style, with his face up and out. It's a better view, I'm sure. He feels like an old soul to me, an idea that I happen to love. Rowan is my second godson to boot - our extended family grows! Which is the beauty of it all.

Jason the gimpy, part deux...
We have some news. Jason re-injured his hip & back this past weekend, so he got an MRI done. The scan results are in and he has been referred to a neuro-surgeon. We don't know if he will need surgery (obviously that's our last resort), but we do know that we need more information from a back & spine specialist. We are going into this optimistically with the hopes that we have some alternative non-surgical options to try in order to get him well and ease his pain. We have an appointment with that specialist next Wednesday, so more to come next week. The saga continues.
