Hectic week...

It doesn't take long for things to go south. After a great Easter weekend with Jake, he continued to get more sick to the point of being admitted to the hospital on Wednesday. He has RSV which is a respiratory virus that constricts the airways in the lungs. Basically Jake was taking double the normal amount of breaths in order to get enough oxygen. And on top of that, he was dehydrated. So he had all kinds of wires and tubes and IVs stuck in him. He was so exhausted because he couldn't sleep that he was like a rag doll in your arms. But all his people worked in shifts to be with him this week and he rallied enough to be able to spend this weekend at home. What a trooper. He is there now and happy to be in his own environment. This ordeal reminds me that things can always be so much worse. Even Jake's illness is actually pretty common in babies. But seeing that little boy in pain is really eye-opening...while most non-health trials suck at the time, in the grand scheme of life, they don't matter. There are more important things and I believe realizing that provides some peace during the low points.
